Luciana has been part of the dsm-firmenich family for seven years. She introduced the Kudos Awards in May 2024. Here she explains what makes this recognition program special.

What is the Kudos Awards program and why was it created?

We believe in celebrating those moments when colleagues go above and beyond. The Kudos Awards make it easier for all of us to do that.It’s a peer-to-peer recognition program that recognizes employees who not only deliver incredible results but also embody our company values. Through the awards, we want to inspire all employees to strive for excellence and make a positive impact within their roles and beyond.
 

How do the awards work?

The process is very simple. If you notice a colleague consistently demonstrating our company values, you can nominate them for an award. It could be someone you manage, a fellow member of your team or a colleague from across the wider business – anybody you think deserves recognition. When a nomination is submitted, the employee, their line manager, and the HR Business Partner all get an email. Successful nominees receive a monetary award and are celebrated with a special congratulations message that encourages them to continue being a great cultural ambassador for dsm-firmenich.


Are the awards proving popular with employees?

Yes! Just three months after launch, 7% of all employees have already received recognition for championing our values. Take-up of the program has been almost universal, with people being nominated from all functions and business units and across more than 50 countries. We have been incredibly happy to see the rapid adoption and the spirit of inclusive recognition demonstrated across the organization.


What are the benefits to dsm-firmenich?

Having a year-round recognition program like this helps to reinforce our company values and behaviors by enabling employees to recognize excellence in their colleagues at any time. It also creates a greater sense of unity and appreciation  by allowing us to celebrate those employees who make a special contribution to our collective success.
